A number of you have either emailed or Skyp'd me for more info on the Booz Allen report titled: Money Isn't Everything – Lavish R&D Budgets Don't Guarantee Performance
As I mentioned in this weeks podcast, the one correlation that the report does uncover is that R&D spend (as a ratio to sales) does have influence on ‘gross margin'. The rational is that gross margin is an indicator of a “better moustrap” (product differentiation). One more piece of data for you to use with your respective management teams to justify the investment in innovation.
